The company was out on manoeuvres. Rookie Pete was sent to fetch some water from the brook for the captain. Pete returned empty-handed. The captain said, "I thought I told you to get me some water from the brook."
"I intended to, but when I got there, there was a big alligator swimming around. I figured if that 'gator was half as scared as I was, the water wasn't fit to drink."
