The USA had succeeded in building a fantastic computer that was able to solve any strategic or tactical problem. The military leaders assembled in front of it and described a complicated tactical scenario to it. Then they asked it, "Shall we attack or retreat?"
The computer computes for over an hour and then comes up with the answer, "Yes!"
The military brass, rather stupefied, look at each other in amazement until finally one of them asks the computer, "Yes, what?"
After another twenty minutes the computer replies, "Yes, sir!"
